Ever since I was a little girl I thought the coolest job in the world would be modeling. I thought that to have my hair and makeup done and to be wearing the most fashionable clothes behind a camera would be the most amazing thing ever. Like who wouldn’t want to be paid to have their picture taken?

As I got older this was still my dream job but I was less and less open about it because as a young teenager I felt very self conscious about how I looked. After this awkward stage I became more confident and was able to be more open about my dreams.

Now 18 I am in a place where I can do and try anything. So every opportunity I get I jump at. A few months ago I got the opportunity to do a photoshoot for a jewelry line out of San Francisco. I was extremely excited but also very nervous.

I got to the location unsure of what to expect. Thankfully the entire crew was extremely kind and beyond fun. First we did fittings for my outfits and then moved onto makeup and hair. The entire process was so much fun and everything I had imagined.

When it was time to start the shoot to my surprise I felt so comfortable in front of the camera and with the photographer. This shoot made me realize that the dream I created when I was a child was really something I had true passion for.

This shoot only made me want to do more. Thankfully it led to more shoots with different photographers and I was also able to walk in a runway for Phoenix Fashion Week.

Being photographed is something that I’ve learned to love and enjoy, not because I’m the center of attention for that minute but because I love to see how the pictures turn out. Pictures can be works of art. They can speak a thousand words and tell a million stories. Creating this is truly mesmerizing.

Modeling isn’t my job, but it is one of my passions, so in away my dreams did come true.
